Concept of channel steel | Channel steel is a long strip steel with a groove-shaped cross section. Channel steel belongs to carbon structural steel for construction and machinery, and it is a section steel with complex section, and its section shape is trough-shaped. Channel steel is mainly used in building structure, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment and vehicle manufacturing. It is required to have good welding and riveting performance and comprehensive mechanical properties in use. The raw material billet for producing channel steel is carbon-bonded steel or low-alloy steel billet with carbon content not exceeding 0.25%. The finished channel steel is delivered after hot working, normalizing or hot rolling. Its specifications are expressed in millimeters of waist height (h)* leg width (b)* waist thickness (d), such as 100*48*5.3, which means channel steel with waist height of 100mm, leg width of 48mm and waist thickness of 5.3mm, or 10# channel steel. For channel steel with the same waist height, if there are several different leg widths and waist thicknesses, abc should be added to the right of the model to distinguish them, such as 25#a25#b25#c, etc. |

Specification of channel steel | The specifications of channel steel are mainly based on height (H), leg width (B) and waist thickness (D). Imported channel steel shall be marked with actual specifications and dimensions and relevant standards. The import and export order of channel steel is generally based on the specifications required in use after determining the corresponding carbon-bonded steel (or low-alloy steel) steel grade. Except the specification number, channel steel has no specific composition and performance series. The delivery length of channel steel is divided into fixed length and double length, and the tolerance value is stipulated in the corresponding standard. The length selection range of domestic channel steel can be divided into three types according to different specifications: 5-12m, 5-19m and 6-19m. The length selection range of imported channel steel is generally 6-15m. |
