Product Description

EN10083 is a European standard. C45, C45E, C50 and C50E are four grades of carbon mould steel plate with different chemical compositions and mechanical properties.C45 and C45E have a medium carbon content (0.42-0.50%) and are used for applications requiring high strength and toughness. They are usually normalized or quenched and tempered. C50 and C50E have a higher carbon content (0.47-0.55%) and are used for applications requiring higher hardness and wear resistance. They are also quenched and tempered but have a low hardenability.

Steel plate usage
C45 steel plate is used for quenching and tempering and for general engineering purposes. Some examples of applications are gears, shafts, axles, studs and spindles.C50 steel plate is used for high strength applications requiring high hardness and wear resistance. Some examples of applications are machine parts, springs, agricultural machinery and blades. C45E and C50E are similar to C45 and C50 respectively but have slightly different chemical compositions. They may have better weldability than their counterparts.
