The strength, plasticity, toughness, and hardenability of 20MnV steel are better than those of 15Cr and 20Mn2 steel. The critical hardenability diameter of the steel in oil is 7 to 14 mm, with good machinability. During carburization, the tendency for grain growth is small, but during heat treatment, there is tempering brittleness. When this steel is used as a carburizing steel, it can be directly quenched after carburizing, without the need for secondary quenching to improve the core structure, and can replace 20Cr and 20CrNi steels. 20MnV steel also has certain thermal strength and good weldability. After welding, stress relief annealing should be carried out in a timely manner, but it has temper brittleness at 300~360 ° C. Equivalent to 20CrNi steel, it can be used to manufacture high-pressure vessels, boilers, and large high-pressure pipe components with a working temperature not exceeding 450~475 ° C. It is also used to manufacture cold rolled, cold drawn, and cold stamped parts, such as gears, bicycle chains, piston pins, etc. It is also widely used to manufacture mining chain links with a diameter of less than 20mm.
