ASTM A709 is the standard for high-strength low alloy steel plates(HSLA) used in bridge construction for load bearing and support components.CUMIC offers the following five grades A709 Gr36, Gr50, Gr50W, Gr HPS 50W, and Gr HPS 70W.Steel plates are types of flat steel that can be cut and welded into finer products. As the high-temperature steel is rolled into a plate, the strength of the steel plate is given. Layer upon layer of steel is compressed and forged into a piece of steel until it reaches the appropriate dimensions. They are often used to reinforce foundations and support heavy items, such as bridges.

Steel plate usage
1. Steel plates are favored for their corrosion resistance and wear resistance, with a much wider thickness range than ordinary steel plates. Therefore, steel plates can be found in a large number of applications that require superstructure frames and indestructible durability.
In addition to common structural and architectural uses, these plates are also used on ships and barges or oil drilling platforms, and other offshore equipment known for being able to withstand the tremendous pressures from the worst marine environments.
3. Due to its durability, steel plates are particularly suitable for the manufacture of heavy machinery, resulting in a longer service life for machined and vulnerable parts.
4. The steel plate can be further processed through heat treatment to improve its mechanical properties.
