Weathering steel plate, that is, atmospheric corrosion resistant steel plate, is a low alloy steel series between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Weathering steel plate is made of ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of corrosion resistant elements such as copper and nickel, and its weather resistance is 2-8 times that of ordinary carbon steel, and its paintability is 1.5-10 times that of ordinary carbon steel. | |||||||
Application of weathering steel plate | Weathering steel is mainly used in steel structures such as railways, vehicles, bridges, towers, photovoltaics, high-speed projects and so on. It can also be used to manufacture structural parts such as containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, harbor buildings, oil production platforms and containers containing sulfur corrosive media in chemical and petroleum equipment. Properties of weathering steel plate | It can protect the rust layer from atmospheric corrosion and can be used to manufacture low-alloy structural steel for vehicles, bridges, towers, containers and other steel structures. Compared with ordinary carbon steel plate, weathering steel plate has better corrosion resistance in the atmosphere. Compared with stainless steel, weathering steel plate has only a few alloying elements, such as phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, niobium, vanadium, titanium, etc., and the total amount of alloying elements only accounts for a few percent, unlike stainless steel, which reaches more than ten percent, so the price is relatively low. After adding trace elements such as phosphorus, copper, chromium and nickel to the steel plate, a dense and highly adherent protective film is formed on the surface of the steel plate, which prevents the corrosion from spreading and developing inward and protects the substrate under the rust layer to slow down its corrosion rate. The amorphous spinel oxide layer with a thickness of about 50 μ m ~ 100 μ m formed between the rust layer and the substrate is dense and has good adhesion to the substrate metal. Because of this dense oxide film, oxygen and water in the atmosphere are prevented from infiltrating into the steel substrate, which slows down the deep development of corroded steel materials and greatly improves the atmospheric corrosion resistance of steel materials. Weathering steel plate is a steel system that can be used thinly, exposed or simply painted, so that it can resist corrosion, prolong life, save labor and reduce consumption, and upgrade.
